Arcos de la Frontera
Arcos de la Frontera was one of a series of fortified Spanish settlements along the frontier between the Christian and Muslim territories during the era of the Reconquista. In addition, Arcos is one of several Pueblos Blancos--White Towns-- that dot the countryside of an area in western Andalucía, so-called because almost all structures are whitewashed.
